Stamford Police Pursue Morning Bank Robber [Update]

The Stamford Police Department are searching for a black female in her mid-20's that allegedly robbed Hope Street's First County Bank Monday morning.

Update, 1:40 p.m.

The Stamford Police Department states that they are still searching for a black female, weighing between 200-220 pounds, suspected of robbing Stamford's First County Bank by slipping a threatening note to a bank teller.

"It was a note job," Capt. Richard Conklin of the SPD said. The robbery took place at around 9:20 a.m. Monday morning, according to SPD's Sgt. Paul Guzda.

"A lone black female walked up to a teller with a note demanding money, and that there were armed men outside," Guzda said. 

SPD reports that the suspect was given an undetermined sum of money and fled on foot, walking at a fast pace on Scofield Ave. towards Center Street.

"Police dogs led us to the area of Scofield and Center, and that's where they lost her scent," Guzda said.

The suspect did not display a weapon during the robbery, and police have not yet determined if armed men were in fact waiting for the suspect outside of the bank.

Police describe the suspect as being short, last seen wearing jeans and an "NY" hoody.

The , located at 275 Hope Street, was allegedly robbed at 9:30 this morning by an unarmed and "heavy-set" black female according to the Stamford Advocate.

Stamford police are in active pursuit of the female suspect, but police have not disclosed how the woman was able to rob the bank without displaying a weapon or how much money was taken.

As an active force in the community, the First County Bank Foundation $85,000 to various charities around Stamford.
