Police Press Drugs Charges in Cold Spring Car Crash

Christopher Lund of Riverside, CT was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with seven drug and car-related offenses after allegedly crashing into traffic light on Cold Spring Road.

Christopher Lund, 22 and with a listed address in Riverside, was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting an officer, and several other drug and motor vehicle offenses for allegedly getting into an accident while intoxicated and then fleeing the scene.

According to police reports, Lund, who was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday morning, lost control of his 1998 Ford Explorer while traveling east on Cold Spring Road and crashed into a traffic light positioned in the center median.

"Officers were dispatched to the area of Cold Spring Rd. at Randall Ave. on a report of a motor vehicle vehicle accident with injuries," an SPD police report states. "Dispatch advised responding officers that one of the operators was chasing the other operator in the street, attempting to fight him."

According to an official police report, a witness informed a responding officer that the driver of the SUV, later identified as Christopher Lund, fled the scene. The responding officer on the scene determined that it was a one-car accident, and proceeded to search Lund's vehicle. In the SUV, the officer found 2.2 grams of marijuana and a multi-colored glass pipe.

More officers arrived and combed the area for Lund. "We heard mumbling from a large brush, and upon approaching the brush, we found Christopher Lund," SPD states. Witnesses described Lund as having "scratches and small cuts" along his body.

SPD allegedly had difficulty in transporting Lund into custody, as his level of intoxicated made it difficult to remove him from the wooded, fenced area that he was found in. When Lund was arrested, an arrest report states that Lund was "uncooperative", and refused to be "mugged and printed."

Lund is charged with seven separate offenses, including possession of less than four oz. of marijuana, resisting an officer, refusing fingerprinting, and failure to drive right.
