Violent Homicide Victim's Identity Released [Update]

A 30-year-old Hispanic man was found dead in his apartment Monday night.

Stamford police has released the name of the 30-year-old man who was found dead in his East side apartment Monday night. According to Lt. Jim Matheny, the victim has been identified as Leonel A. Rios Hernandez.

Police are investigating the homicide of a 30-year-old Hispanic man that occurred between Sunday night and Monday morning. The man was discovered in the bedroom of his East side apartment, a multi-family residence at 1 Daly Street, by a relative Monday night.

The initial investigation found that the victim appeared to have sustained multiple injuries to his head and face, according to Lt. Jim Matheny. The cause and manner of death have yet to be determined, and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the State Medical Examiner's Office.

After not hearing from the man throughout Monday, one of his relatives became concerned and went to check on him. According to Matheny, the relative then called 911 at approximately 6:47 p.m. and Stamford EMS personnel were dispatched. They immediately notified the police of their discovery of a probable homicide.
