Police Following Tips In Stamford Bank Robbery

People who believe they recognize the woman caught in the First County Bank surveillance video during Monday morning's robbery, are calling in tips to Stamford Police.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn said the woman escaped with about $4,900 handed over to her by a clerk at the 275 Hope St. branch of First County Bank, shortly after 9 a.m. July 8.

"We've gotten a lot of tips...four or five calls from people who believe they know who the suspect is," Hohn said. "We're working diligently because some (leads) look good."

The woman, shown above, was described as being about five-foot-three and weighing about 200 pounds.

Hohn said tips can be called in to 203 977-4417.
