Victor Bejarando, 46, of Whitmore Ln. was arrested and charged Wednesday afternoon with 2 counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor for an alleged relationship with a 14-year-old acquaintance.
Authorities said Bejarando allegedly preyed on the child for 6 to 7 months before the relationship was discovered.
When arrested at his workplace, authorities said he had a plane ticket to Columbia and his passport on his person.
Bejarando has a bond of $250,000 and a court date of May 16th.
Omar Vargas, 23, of the 100 block of Southfield Ave., was arrested Tuesday night on a warrant during a traffic stop in Darien. Vargas was allegedly involved in a December 2010 incident in which he'd fondled a 13-year-old girl while she was sleeping, authorities said.
The incident came to light in May of 2011 when the girl informed a school counselor.
When the incident was discovered, Vargas had left his residence and his whereabouts were unknown for a time, police said. The warrant for his arrest popped up during the motor vehicle stop and he was taken in to custody.
Vargas' bond is set at $25,000 and he has a court date of May 14th. He faces charges of sex with a victim under 15 years old and illegal sexual contact with a victim under the age of 16.
