North Stamford Propane Tank Fire at Explosion Site Finally Extinguished

Stamford's Turn of River Fire Department tweeted early Thursday morning, and Stamford officials have confirmed, that the propane tank fire being contained in a controlled burn at a Webbs Hill Road home had finally burned out. 

At approximately 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Turn of River announced that the propane tank that had been burning along Webbs Hill Road following an explosion that disintegrated the home there had finally burned out. Public Safety Director Ted Jankowski confirmed the final extinguishing. 

"There continues to be an ongoing investigation between the local Fire Marshals, the State Fire Marshals Office and the Stamford Police Department," Jankowski said in the announcement.

 The director said the scene will remain secured until the investigation is complete.
