New York Cabbie Stiffed $200 Following Trip to Stamford

A New York cab driver reported to Stamford police early Monday morning that a fare from Grand Central station had stiffed him the $209 owed following the trip from the train station.

Police said Tuesday the driver reported around 12:52 a.m. Monday that a fare from Grand Central had asked the driver to stop at two banks, one in New York and the other in Stamford, but reported to the driver both ATMs were not functioning and his friend would pay for the fare upon arrival.

The suspect, described only as a white male, left a college ID with the driver then disappeared, police said, never to return. Police said they were working on tracking down the suspect form the ID left with the driver, but presently hadn't determined whether the ID was even real.
