New Haven Man Arrested After Stabbing in the South End

21-year-old David C. Davis was arrested and charged with first-degree assault after stabbing a 21-year-old Stamford man in the back.

A 21-year-old New Haven man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he stabbed a 21-year-old Stamford man in the back following an argument in the South End, said.

David C. Davis of 136 Cedar Hill Avenue was getting a haircut inside of an apartment on Henry Street when he was approached by the victim in what he described as an aggressive manner, according to police. Davis told investigators that he feared for his life, so he grabbed a pair of scissors and slashed the victim in the upper back.

Patrol and canine officers located Davis in an apartment at 124 Henry Street and was taken into custody without incident. The scissors used in the assault were also recovered. The victim was taken to to receive treatment for  non-life threatening injuries.

Davis was charged with first-degree assault and is being held on a $5,000 bond. He  is scheduled to appear in court on March 22. Davis is also being charged with failure to appear in court in the second degree for a previous warrant with a court set bond of $750.
