Naugatuck Man Stabbed During Fight in Stamford

Everard Boothe, 28, was also arrested on heroin, firearms charges, after an argument with a Bridgeport man.

A Naugatuck man has been hospitalized after being stabbed following a drug-fueled argument in downtown Stamford Thursday morning.

Stamford Police Lt. Dedrich Hohn said Bridgeport resident Everard Boothe, 28, stabbed Lyle Huneke, 32, after the pair got into a fistfight following a night of drinking and using drugs.

Hohn said the two individuals were at a home with several other people when the fight took place early Thursday morning. Police aren’t sure what sparked the incident, however they said Boothe pulled a knife out and stabbed Huneke approximately seven times.

Witnesses at the scene immediately took Huneke to Tully Health Center at 4 a.m. on Thursday, although it was closed. They then called 911 and Huneke was rushed to Stamford Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Boothe, of 43 Cottage St., was arrested on a charge of first-degree assault.

After a later search into Huneke’s car, police recovered a fake firearm and several bundles of heroin, Hohn said. Officers then arrested Boothe and brought him back to the police station to be held for arraignment in court Friday.

That changed, however, when Huneke’s wounds started bleeding again and he was taken back to the hospital for further review.

“They’ll probably keep him for a few days,” Hohn said.

Huneke was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree threatening, possession of narcotics and possession of a facsimile firearm.

Boothe was held on a $50,000 bond while Huneke was held on a $100,000 bond.

The Stamford Advocate reported that Boothe is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior court today.
