A review by The Associated Press shows that more male drivers in Connecticut are ticketed for talking or texting while driving than female drivers, according to the Hartford Courant.
Since 2006, between 52 and 54 percent of the tickets issued for distracted driving were given to male drivers, according to records obtained by AP, and within the last year, men in Connecticut received approximately 16,000 tickets while women received 13,690 tickets.
Drivers in the state of Connecticut receive a $125 ticket for the first distracted driving offense and $250 for the second, according the Courant. Drivers under the age of 18 also face getting their license suspended.
In December, The National Transportation Safety Board announced a call for states to , citing evidence from numerous vehicular accidents where distraction from the use of a cell phone was a contributing factor.
