Monroe Firefighters Seek Donations for Hurricane Victims

Donated items will be brought to New York City on Saturday evening.

Residents wishing to donate items for victims of Hurricane Sandy may bring their donations to the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department Station #1, 18 Shelton Road (Route 110).

Items may be dropped off at the firehouse beginning this Monday (Nov. 12) through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All items are being transported on Saturday evening to New York City where they will be distributed by disaster relief agencies.

Below is a list of items that are being requested:

Non-perishable food such as canned goods
Ready-to-eat food such as cereal, power bars, and granola bars
Bottled water
Diapers and wipes
Winter wear such as coats, gloves, and sweatshirts
Disinfectant wipes
Anti-bacterial soap
Cleaning supplies including bleach
Trash bags
Work gloves
Rubber boots
Face masks
