Man Shoplifts $700 in Baby Formula from Target in Stamford

Police arrested a 26-year-old Bridgeport man who is accused of stealing 38 cans of baby formula—valued at $703.42—from Target in Stamford.

William B. McNeil, of 68 Sheridan St., was arrested by warrant at 10:50 a.m. on April 23 and charged with fifth-degree larceny.

According to Sgt. Simon Blanc of the Stamford Police Department, McNeil at about 3:30 p.m. on March 16 shoplifted the Enfamil brand formula from Target, and was seen on video. He returned four days later, on March 20, to steal more baby formula, though it isn’t clear how much, Blanc said.

When police obtained an arrest warrant based on video surveillance, McNeil was being held at Bridgeport Correctional facility on a separate matter, Blanc said.

A $1,000 bond was assessed and McNeil was scheduled to appear May 7 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Other arrests include:

  • Gregory Lightbourne, 54, of 33 Duran St., was arrested at 2:56 p.m. on April 23 and charged with two counts of second-degree failure to appear.
  • Police arrested Erwin Martinez, 18, of 53 Matthews St., at 12 a.m. on April 24 and charged him with possession of a controlled substance, less than 4 ounces of marijuana.
  • Hector Rivera, 30, of 17 Marines Place, Plainfield, NJ, was arrested at 10:14 p.m. on April 23 and charged with two counts of first-degree failure to appear.
  • Police arrested Walentyna Stankiewicz, 58, of 450 Center St., Southport, at 7:38 p.m. on April 23 and charged this individual with fifth-degree larceny.
