Man Pleads Guilty to Risk of Injury in Stamford Child's Death

The man and the child's mother were both charged in the incident.

A 36-year-old Stamford plead guilty to risk of injury to a child following what police called the "untimely death" of a child in 2010, Lt. Diedrich Hohn announced Tuesday.

Abdul Dorris was charged in the July 22, 2010, death of 10-year-old Mikel Robinson at the 200-block Broad Street apartment Dorris shared with his girlfriend and child's mother, Monica Parker.

Police responding to a call of an unresponsive child in a bath tub arrived to find a scene that had been cleaned up, including a tub that had been drained. An autopsy returned inconclusive results.

According to the Lieutenant, Dorris received a sentence of 10 years, which would be suspended after three years served, and five years of probation for his role in Robinson's death.

Parker, 32, was also arrested and charged in the incident and received a suspended sentence, Hohn announced.

During the investigation, the couple had moved to Tennessee. Warrants were obtained and the couple had to be extradited back to Stamford. Hohn thanked the Bureau of Criminal Investigations unit and the State Attorney's Office for their work in obtaining what he called the "best possible outcome with the evidence presented to them."
