Stamford Man Faces Shoplifting Charge

The suspect is accused of trying to flee when confronted by employees of the Greenwich store.


A man is facing a sixth-degree larceny charge following a reported shoplifting incident at the Whole Foods store at 90 E. Putnam Ave.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Rogers E. Brooks, 51, of 161 Berrian Rd., Stamford, was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. April 1. Brooks reportedly pilfered groceries from the store and tried to flee when he was confronted by store employees, according to the report.

He was detained by employees who called police. The report did not specify what Brooks is accused of stealing.

Brooks was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear April 9 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
