Stamford Man Charged with Burglarizing Ex Girlfriend's Home While She Slept

On Sunday, Dec. 29 Moises Morales, 38, of Soundview Drive in Stamford was charged with Burglary and Criminal Trespass. The arrest stemmed from an incident on Dec. 10 in which Morales was accused of helping himself to cash and cigarettes from his ex-girlfriend's Strawberry Hill Rd residence while she slept.

Morales' ex girlfriend told Norwalk Police she had woken up at 4:30a.m. and found a downstairs room in her home in disarray. Initially thinking the neighborhood cat had been let in the residence she alter realized the situation was worse when she looked for her cigarettes and found them missing from the counter. Later, when the complainant went to get money from her wallet to give her child, she discovered that cash was missing.

The woman reported to police that she suspected her ex-boyfriend Morales was responsible for the burglary as he had taken her car previously without permission. According to Norwalk Police, the car had been returned to Darien Police before it had been reported stolen.

Detectives processed the scene of the burglary at Strawberry Hill Rd and canvassed the neighborhood. Subsequently, police made contact with Morales and he agreed to come to the police station to talk. During an interview Morales admitted to taking cash and cigarettes from the Strawberry Hill Rd home of his ex-girlfriend, explaining that when he is drinking and taking powder cocaine that he gets a little crazy.

Morales' bond was set at $10,000 and he has a date in court on Jan. 9.
