Man Breaks into ATM at Stamford's Crab Shell

The suspect made off with what police are calling a "large amount of cash."

Burglars using sophisticated machinery and equipment to rob an ATM machine at a local bar made off with a large amount of cash early Wednesday, Lt. Diedrich Hohn announced.

At approximately 4 a.m., an individual broke into the restaurant and bar on Southfield Ave. and, using some heavy machinery, was able to crack open an ATM located in a vestibule there.

Police are still working to track down the owner of the ATM machine as the Crab Shell doesn't receive any money from having it there and the company that placed the machine is only a company managing the location of the machine.

The suspect was swaddled in quite a bit of clothing and police are still working to discern whatever they can from available video. There is no description currently available.
