Police were called to Corbin Drive, across the street from the U.S. Post Office, on Monday, July 2 after someone complained that a car was parked too far away from the curb.
On arriving at the scene shortly after 7:21 p.m., police said, they found Paul Slinsky, 47, of Stamford standing outside the car, which was about four feet from the curb.
Darien police gave the following account of the incident and investigation:
As soon as officers approached Slinsky, they could smell alcohol on him. They also noticed that his eyes were glassy. He failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Slinsky, of 590 Stillwater Ave., posted a $250 and was released pending an appearance July 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
