Man, 25, Dies following Shooting Late Friday on Stamford's West Side

Jeffrey McNeil succumbed to shots to his torso Saturday following the late-night shooting outside Cut Masters barber shop on Richmond Hill Avenue, police said. Another man was shot in the leg and is expected to survive.

A 25-year-old man was shot dead and another man was seriously injured late Friday on Stamford’s west side, police say, in the first reported homicide in the city in 2013.

Eyewitnesses told police that a lone gunman at about 10:30 p.m. fired multiple rounds into a group in front of Cut Masters barber shop at 91 Richmond Hill Ave., according to a press release issued by Stamford Police Department Capt. Richard Conklin and Lt. Diedrich Hohn.

Jeffrey McNeil, shot in the torso, succumbed Saturday morning, police said. A 44-year-old man shot in the left leg underwent surgery at Stamford Hospital and is expected to survive, they said.

Following the shooting, the gunman is said to have fled in a dark-colored Honda.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide and aggravated assault. They’re asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the criminal investigations division at 203-977-4417.
