LeConte Murder Trial Underway

Alain LeConte is facing robbery, murder and attempted murder charges in connection with a string of armed robberies — including one at Adams Grocery in Stamford on Dec. 12, 2009.

Jury trial proceedings have reportedly commenced in the state's case against Alain LeConte, 24, who faces first degree robbery, felony murder, first degree murder and attempted murder charges in connection with gas station robberies that occurred in 2009 in Stamford, Old Greenwich and Norwalk.

According to a report in the Stamford Advocate, LeConte's trial began last week at state Superior Court in Stamford and is expected to last up to three weeks.

LeConte is charged with shooting gas station attendant Jose Joaquin Morales execution style during an Oct. 10, 2009 armed robbery Norwalk. He is also charged with shooting an attendant in the head during a robbery at the former Mobil on the Run on East Putnam Avenue in Old Greenwich on Nov. 21, 2009. The Mobil employee survived.

LeConte's alleged two-month "crime spree" ended when he robbed the Adams Grocery in Stamford on Dec. 12, 2009, and was captured by police soon after, according to the report.

LeConte has been incarcerated on other charges since his arrest.
