For kids of all ages on Saturday, October 5, close to three dozen municipal and emergency response vehicles will return for Kidzfest 2013, gathering at Norwalk's Taylor Farm Park for touching, climbing and general exploration.
For a $5 admission, kids will get to see things like dump trucks, city buses, police cars, fire trucks, marine units, SWAT and SRT vehicles, ATV and motorcycle units and, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the very special Eagle One aerial unit will be landing.
"It's an amazing event," said New Canaan Sgt. Carol Ogrinc. "There will be a lot of really cool trucks there and the Eagle One helicopter, which got called out and couldn't land last year."
Ogrinc said they'd try to limit the siren use this year as her "head was pounding last year," she said, laughing.
In addition to vehicles, there will be a number of other attractions, including face painting, music, games, mascots, Batman & Spiderman, rides on the roaming railroad, the MeltMobile, Mister Softee and, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., the The Bridgeport Bluefish mascot.
More than 800 people attended the event last year, she said. The event, coming to 45 Calf Pasture Beach Road, will benefit Children's Connection of the Human Services Council. The program supports child victims of physical or sexual abuse.
