Gun Recovered, Man Faces Charges For Stamford Shooting

A Stamford man is in custody on gun-related charges following a late Monday shooting and the recovery of a loaded 9 mm handgun, according to Stamford Police.

"At (10:30 p.m.) there were multiple calls of shots fired at 200 Henry St.," said Stamford Police Lt. Diedrich Hohn. "There were numerous witnesses who said a black male was shooting at a group standing in front of 191 Henry St."

The group fled and during a canvass of the neighborhood for victims and the suspect, officers found a man hiding behind a Cedar Street house, about 100 yards from the shooting scene, Hohn said.

About five feet from the man was a loaded 9mm handgun. The man was given a gunshot residue test. Given the test results and the recovery of a shellcasing at the shooting scene that matched the bullets in the 9mm, the man was arrested, Hohn said.

The suspect gave police a false ID and was later identified as Howard Parker, 18, of 26 Anderson St., who is parole for a robbery conviction, Hohn said.

Parker was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, criminal impersonation, second-degree forgery and third-degree criminal trespass. Bond was set at $150,000, however, Hohn said Parker wouldn't be released because he's on parole.

No one was injured in the shooting.
