Group Robs Man at Stamford's Daskam Park

A 19-year-old male was assaulted and robbed in the 200 block of Glenbrook Road Monday evening, police said Tuesday.

The man was walking past Daskam Park at approximately 10:20 p.m. when a troup that had been congregating in the park approached him, police said.

According to authorities, one of the suspects, described as a black teen, engaged the victim in a conversation while the rest of the group maneuvered behind the victim.

Police said that's when the group stuck, punching the man in the back of the head, causing his glasses to fall of and for the victim to fall to the ground.

The suspects repeatedly struck the man about the head and body, took from the victm an unspecified amount of cash and his cellphone, according to authorities. The group, described as teens, then fled the scene in various directions, police said.

The man refused medical treatment at the scene and drove himself to the hospital with numerous minor lacerations to his elbow, hand, face and back of his head.
