A gas leak was the cause of a poolhouse fire on Riverbank Road Tuesday afternoon, a fire that left one worker with minor burns.

"It appears there was maintenance work being done on the poolhouse's furnace, there was a gas leak, and a fire broke out," Marshal Antonio Olive said about the fire, which occured at 746 Riverbank Road. Olive stated the fire emergency was reported at 2:39 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, and the fire wasn't extinguished until an estimated 3:15. p.m.

"It took a little while to turn off the propane tank that was feeding the house," Olive said. "The maintenance worker had minor burns to his face, and two firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion."
