Fairfield Man Steals Golf Cart, Smashes It Into Another Cart

A 33-year-old Bridgeport house painter has agreed to replace any fish that may die in a Weston pond that police and environmental officials say may have been contaminated after the man in a stream that feeds it.

The paint was found to be water-based and non-toxic, officials said. However, the run-off into the pond may create a hypoxic environment, endangering and possibly suffocating marine life, according to the Department of Environmental Protection.

Police said they were notified of the problem when a homeowner whose property includes the pond caught the painter in the act and phoned them. The man was charged with littering.

A pair of Bronx men are facing possession of marijuana charges after the Darien Police Department’s certified K-9 confirmed officers’ suspicions that the drug was inside a car where a man had been sleeping. Ultimately police said they found a blunt in the center console, marijuana residue around the seats and a plastic bag containing marijuana .

Fairfield police on Sunday arrested a 25-year-old Bridgeport man accused of by stealing a golf cart from one course and smashing it into golf carts at another. The man allegedly stole a golf cart from an elderly woman playing golf at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield and drove the cart to Fairchild Wheeler Golf Club, where he smashed it into three golf carts, causing $1,600 in damage, as well as additional damage to the greens.

Norwalk police are looking for a pair of men suspected in an apartment break-in with . According to police, two men knocked on her door late one night, saying they were looking for someone else and asking questions. They left when the woman asked them for ID, police said. The next morning, after she’d left for work, the woman reportedly received a phone call from a neighbor, saying two strangers were in or around the apartment. She came home and saw one of the two men from the prior night leaving her apartment, its door smashed open, police said. He and the second man—whom she saw playing with a basketball outside the building—fled when she arrived, police said.

A 23-year veteran of the Shelton Police Department was reportedly following an arrest for larceny and tampering with evidence during a 2008 investigation . The accused’s lawyer said his client intends to fight the police department’s punishment.

Finally, more bad fortune has been reported for an established Wilton eatery that was six months ago. Wilton police reported criminal mischief at Portofino’s Restaurant, which is this summer, after a large image of a on the exterior of the building. Police said they do not have any suspects at this time.
