Ex-Restaurant Worker from Stamford Charged in Greenwich Drug Operation

Two-month investigation leads to arrest of Stamford man.

 

An anonymous tip that a man was selling illegal drugs in downtown Greenwich has led to the arrest of a restaurant worker on several drug charges.

The suspect, identified by Greenwich Police as Jose D. Candray, 36, who gave an address of 42 Halloween Blvd., Stamford, was arrested May 25, following a two-month investigation by the department's narcotics section. Candray faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, operation of a drug factory, illegal manufacture, distribution and sale of cocaine, illegal manufacture, distribution and sale of marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Candray worked for a downtown restaurant whose owner cooperated with the investigation. Police did not identify the eatery.

Candray was held in lieu of $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear June 1 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

According to the police report, "Candray was subsequently terminated from his employment at the local downtown restaurant."
