At about 1:50 p.m., a passing driver approached a police officer working on a traffic assignment on Ledge Road to say that a woman, possibly in distress, was sitting in a parked, running vehicle in the Jake's Place parking lot.

When the officer approached, he found Elizabeth Malinowski, 31, of Stamford, sitting in the parked, running vehicle in the lot.

The officer spoke with Malinowski and smelled a strong odor of alcohol on her. The officer then administered field sobriety tests to her, which she failed.

Malinowski was arrested on a charge of driving while under the influence. She later posted $250 bond and is scheduled to appear April 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
