Dog Found in Stamford with Triple Fracture
A chihuahua with a three-part fracture in its leg was recovered and brought to the Stamford Animal Care & Control Shelter Friday evening, authorities said Monday.
According to shelter director Laurie Hollywood, the dog was found by a woman at the Courtland Avenue park and brought to the shelter at approximately 5:45 p.m.
The dog, a little tan female, had a three-part fracture in its front left leg near the knee, Hollywood said, and will require surgery to heal properly. The dog is not expected to ever regain 100-percent of its movement, she said.
The surgery to repair the dog's leg will run several thousand dollars and will require two implants. OPiN will be assisting with the cost of the surgery. Those interested in donating to the non-profit should visit opinpets.org.
