Cops: Suspects Commit Dual, Simultaneous Robberies Overnight

Two neighboring stores were hit at the exact same time by three suspects, all carrying weapons, police said Thursday.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn said Thursday that a pair of simultaneous robberies that occurred Wednesday night appear to be connected to a rash of incidents taking place lately in the same area.

Last night, two black males wearing bandanas over their faces entered the Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant in the 500 block of Cove Road and allegedly displayed silver handguns, which they pointed at an employee and demanded cash, Hohn said. They received approximately $400 from the worker.

At the same time, next door, a light-skinned white or Hispanic male entered La Palencia Market bodega wearing a ski mask and allegedly carrying a handgun and also demanded money while pointing the gun at the owner. He received approximately $1,000 in cash.

Hohn said the incidents were connected, as all three suspects were seen fleeing down Willowbrook Avenue together. Hohn said he believes the incidents may be connected to the two robberies that have recently occurred at a Cove Road Mini Mart and a carjacking incident.
