Cops: Stamford Teen Bought Jewelry with Stolen Credit Card

A 19-year-old Stamford man is charged with first-degree identity theft after police said he used a stolen credit card to purchase jewelry at the Stamford Town Center.

According to Sgt. Peter diSpagna, a credit card was stolen out of a motor vehicle in town on Oct. 27, 2013, and subsequently used at the Stamford Town Center.

The card was used at a jewelry store, diSpagna said, and an investigation led police to Christopher Alton Deveaux, of 24 Dale Place, as the suspect who made the purchases there. He was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 19, at approximately 8:13 p.m.

Deveaux was charged with first-degree identity theft, purchasing goods totaling more than $500 on a revoked credit card and sixth-degree larceny.
