Cops: Stamford Driver Spotted with Beer, Vodka at Checkpoint

Arrests and investigations from around Stamford.

An underage Stamford man was allegedly caught by police driving around with a beer in his center console and a bottle of vodka on the back floor, police said Monday morning.

Kevin Valverde, 20, of Hope St., was stopped at an E. Main St. sobriety checkpoint early Saturday morning when police allegedly spotted him sans seatbelt and he was asked to pull into a parking lot.

Officers allegedly spotted a beer can in the center console of his white Toyota Prius and a vodka bottle on the floor in the rear.

Both Valverde and an unnamed passenger passed a sobriety test. Valverde, being the owner of the vehicle, was issued a summons for minor possession of liquor in public and failure to use a seat belt-front seat.
