Cops: Stamford Driver Spotted with Beer, Vodka at Checkpoint

An underage Stamford man was allegedly caught by police driving around with a beer in his center console and a bottle of vodka on the back floor, police said Monday morning.

[Name removed], 20, was stopped at an E. Main St. sobriety checkpoint early Saturday morning when police allegedly spotted him sans seatbelt and he was asked to pull into a parking lot.

Officers allegedly spotted a beer can in the center console of his white Toyota Prius and a vodka bottle on the floor in the rear.

Both [name removed] and an unnamed passenger passed a sobriety test. [Name removed], being the owner of the vehicle, was issued a summons for minor possession of liquor in public and failure to use a seat belt-front seat.

The Stamford Police Department Special Response Team responded to a barricade situation on Leeds St. off Cove Rd. over the weekend.

The man inside was threatening harm to himself and any officers attempting to intervene, but police were able to communicate with him and resolve the situation non-violently over the course of approximately 40 minutes.

The man was restrained for everyone's safety and found to be in possession of a knife. He was taken for psychiatric care at the Stamford Hosptial. He will not be charged.

Carlos Bonilla, 31, of Garden St., charged early Monday with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and operation of a motor vehicle without a license.

Ruben A. Bryant, 54, of S. Pacific St., charged early Sunday with violation of probation.

Jorge Alberto Fernandez, 27, of Glenbrook Rd., charged early Sunday with second-degree threatening and breach of peace.

Idris Hassan Gay, 22, of Connecitcut Ave., charged Saturday afternoon with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, violation of probation, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny.

James Gay, 30, of Walter Ave. in Norwalk, charged Saturday afternoon with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, carrying a dangerous weapon and possession of burglar tools.

Willie Lee Johnson, 50, of Henry St., charged Saturday night with possession of narcotics.

Carlos H. Lopez-Marroquin, 40, of Carolina Rd., charged with third-degree larceny and disorderly conduct.

Gerald Moise, 68, of William St., charged early Sunday with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and improper rear/marker lamps.

Omar Alexis Parra, 26, of Summitt Ave. in Norwalk, charged Saturday night with interfering with an officer/resisting.

Gjon J. Rexha, 20, of Joffre Ave., charged early Sunday with second-degree failure to appear.
