Cops: Mystery Tree Crew Knocks Down Power Line, Disappears

Police said an investigation was ongoing with cooperation from CL&P and AT&T.

Stamford Police Wednesday responded to a call in which a crew working on removing tree limbs near power lines on Skyline Rd. allegedly knocked a powerline down with one of the branches, police said Thursday.

According to authorities, an unknown crew was working in the area when a primary line was knocked to the ground while they were working. Police said the crew allegedly fled the scene after the incident.

Police praised CL&P and AT&T for their typical efforts in gaining police assistance during limb removal procedures and said, while an investigation was ongoing, it was unlikely the crew responsible was an approved limb removal crew. Both companies are assisting with the investigation and checking their records, authorities said.
