Cops: Man Punches Out Truck Window in Road-Rage Incident

A 46-year-old city man allegedly punched out the back window to a truck whose driver was allegedly yelling at the man's wife, according to police.

Several parties involved in an alleged road-rage incident Wednesday morning made Stamford police officers' lives easier by all arriving at the police station to make complaints about each other.

Authorities said a woman's car apparently stalled out at the intersection of Cove Road and Dale Place and she placed her hazards on in an attempt to make other motorists aware that she was having issues.

Police said a pickup truck then pulled up up behind the woman and began honking and yelling. Eventually, the truck pulled up along side the woman, but according to police, she ignored the driver because she claimed he appeared very angry.

Police said the woman's husband coincidentally happened to be walking down the street at the time of the incident and witnessed the interaction. He allegedly jumped into the bed of the pickup truck and punched out the rear window of the truck. Police said the husband, identified by police as Alden Haughton, 46, of Lawn Ave., then ran off.

Police said Haughton's wife, whose vehicle at that point had again become operational, then drove to the Stamford Police Department with the pickup truck in tow behind her.

Authorities said both the woman and parties from the pickup truck entered the department. As police took a statement from Haughton's wife, he allegedly arrived at the station himself. Police said from the interview room, Haughton's wife could hear him in the lobby and told police she needed to exit the room to "keep him from getting arrested."

Alden Haughton was, however, ultimately arrested and charged with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief. Haughton faces a court date of October 24 and was released on a Promise To Appear.
