Cops: Man Arrested in Stamford for Holding Knife to Woman's Throat

Police said a witnessed the event unfold and followed the man's car until police could arrive.

A kidnapping and abduction call to Stamford Police Tuesday night led to the arrest of a Manchester man after he held a knife to the throat of his female passenger, police said Wednesday morning.

According to police, Rondy Murphy, 49, of 22 Wilfred Road, was in a vehicle with a female passenger when some type of altercation ensued. A witness behind Murphy's vehicle allegedly watched, while stopped at a traffic light, as the female passenger exited the vehicle in the area of Washington Boulevard and Atlantic Street, followed by Murphy.

Police said the witness watched as Murphy pulled out a knife and held it to the throat of the female. The witness began flashing headlights at the pair, which caused the female to attempt to hold the man's hand holding the knife behind her back, police said.

Murphy and the female both reentered his vehicle and drove away, followed by the witness, who had called police and was giving them turn-by-turn directions on where the pair was headed.

Police eventually caught up at Greenwich Avenue and Garden Street, and conducted a motor vehicle stop. Murphy was charged in the incident with breach of peace, threatening, possession of a weapon and possession of marijuana. He was held on a $7,500 bond and scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

Police said both parties were known to them from previous incidents.

Hugo Estrada-Augstin, 19, of Lillian St., charged early Wednesday with second-degree breach of peace.

Jie Lin, 27, of Pople Ave. in Flushing, NY, charged Tuesday night with third-degree criminal trespass.

Kevin LLewellyn, 20, of Spruce St., charged Tuesday afternoon with second-degree breach of peace, second-degree unlawful restraint, interfering with an emergency call and third-degree assault.

Maria Losito, 53, of Southfield Ave., charged early Wednesday with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under suspension, failure to insure a private motor vehicle and unsafe backing.

Michael Renee McMurray, 48, of Pacific St., charged Tuesday afternoon with second-degree failure to appear.

Shawn Isaac Milner, 22, of Fairfield Ave., charged Tuesday night with operation of a drug factory, possession of narcotics, three counts of second-degree forgery and five counts sale of certain illegal drugs.

Shanika Shaenta Mitchell, 28, of Ludlow St., charged early Tuesday with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under suspension and failure to comply with state TFC Commission regulations.

Jose Luis Morales, 34, of Buckingham Dr., charged early Tuesday with failure to drive right and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Malvin Nunez, 19, of Duffy St., charged Tuesday night with possession of a controlled substance and sale of a controlled substance.

Natasha Pennywell, 30, of Harbor Dr., charged early Tuesday morning with violation of probation.

Janina Piereth-Noyes, 57, of Strawberry Hill Ave., charged Tuesday afternoon with failure to insure a private motor vehicle.

Roman Rudolph Plepla, 54, of Leonard St., charged Tuesday night with second-degree failure to appear.

Leonel Reyes, 27, of Harvest Hill Ln., charged Tuesday night with possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, operation of a motor vehicle without a license and failure to drive right.

Rene Reyes, 45, of Lillian St., charged early Wednesday with second-degree breach of peace.

Timothy Harold Simpson, 24, charged Tuesday morning with three counts violation of probation.

Hulio A. Torres, 33, of Lilian St., charged early Wednesday with second-degree breach of peace. 

Paul Michael Vignos, 26, of Grant Ave., charged Wednesday morning with possession of a hallucinogen and sale of certain illegal drugs.
