City Woman Arrested for Punching Ex's New Girlfriend

LaToya Cruz, 23, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday after admitting to punching another woman in the face, according to officer Sean Scanlan.

LaToya Cruz of 276 Cove Road, Stamford, went to visit her ex-boyfriend at his apartment in downtown Stamford, Scanlan said, but was told he wasn't there. Cruz, who shares a child with her ex-boyfriend, then went to Warsaw Deli on Main Street to look for him, but ran into his 18-year-old girlfriend instead.

Scanlan said that a confrontation ensued between Cruz and the woman, which resulted in Cruz punching her in the face. When police arrived, Cruz admitted that she hit the victim and was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Her bond was set at $500 and she was arraigned in court on Thursday.
