The Stamford man pleaded guilty that he hid a gun in a tree in a Stamford Park.

A Stamford man was sentenced to more than seven years in prison after pleading guilty to a federal gun possession charge.

According to a release issued by acting U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly, Lonnie Williams, 27, of Stamford, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to 92 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for possessing a stolen firearm.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in July 2012, Williams stored a stolen Glock 9mm handgun, loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, in the base of a tree in park in Stamford.
