Chicago Woman Arrested for Stealing $5,000 From Stamford Man

Police reports for Jan. 16 and 17. Information is supplied by the Stamford Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

On Oct. 6, People's United Bank's corporate office in Bridgeport reported to Stamford police that one of its customers — a Stamford resident — had $5,000 taken out of his account via a stolen check on June 4.

Sergeant Peter diSpagna told Patch that following an initial investigation, officers discovered that the victim's ex-girlfriend Ariana Kim, 38, of 1028 N. Marsfield Ave, Chicago, had visited the victim's apartment in May 2010. After officers were granted a search warrant, they discovered via bank records that Kim had indeed cashed the stolen check.

After obtaining a warrant for Kim's arrest, Stamford police contacted Chicago police, who arrested Kim on Thanksgiving Day. On Dec. 23, Kim signed an waiver of extradition. Stamford police officers arrested Kim in Chicago on Saturday and returned to the city with her on Sunday.
