Cats Attacked in Stamford Woman's Home

Two pet cats were sent to Stamford's Davis Animal Hospital with what veterinarians believe to be internal injuries resulting from intentional abuse after a woman returned home from work to find they had been injured while she was at work, authorities said this week.

Two black cats were brought by their Oxford Court owner to the veterinary office after she returned home from work on Thursday, Oct. 31, to find they were injured, according to Stamford Animal Care & Control Shelter Director Laurie Hollywood.

A doctor from Davis informed Animal Control the animals suffered from hip injuries, eye injuries and jaw injuries and that the injuries appeared to be blunt force trauma consistent with an intentional attack, Hollywood said.

Stamford police and Animal Control Ofc. Tilford Cobb are investigating. Police indicated they could not find signs of forced entry into the residence, though blood was discovered inside. A number of people were in and out of the residence recently, police said.
