Cafe Ooh-La-La Robbed A Week After Crash

Stamford police have arrested DeWayne Carey, 51, in connection with the recent robbery of Cafe-Ooh-La-La.

DeWayne Carey, 51, of Stillwater Ave. in Stamford was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with burglary for allegedly breaking into Cafe Ooh-La-La while it was closed, according to the SPD.

"They were opening the store for business when they discovered forced entry in the rear of the premise," an SPD officer said. "Upon checking around, they found that approximately $400 was missing. Management viewed surveillance tapes and found that the suspect may have been a past employee, recently fired."

SPD reports that the suspect had a "towel around his head" in surveillance videos. The Cafe-Ooh-La-La was the subject of a very public car accident last week, in which Samuel Leighton, who drove into the cafe, will face criminal charges.
