Bullet Casings Found at Reported Shooting Scene in Stamford

Police responding to a report of shots fired in Stamford Wednesday night discovered spent shell casings in a parking lots to which a man had apparently chased two others, police said Friday.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched to East Walnut Street at approximately 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night after a resident reported seeing a black male chase two others from behind 6 East Walnut Street into a parking lot across the street.

After the chase left the witness' sight line, the witness reported hearing three to four shots ring out and the witness retreated into the house, police said. The witness described the suspect as a heavy-set black male wearing a gray shirt, white shorts and having a red shirt tied around his waist.

Officers checked the area for the suspects and victims to no avail, and no gunshot injuries were reported at local hospitals, but police reported finding three spent 9mm Makarov shell casings on the ground in the parking lot.

An investigation is ongoing.
