Broken-Glass Brawl at Stamford's Butterfield 8

Timothy Torres, 21, was arrested at 112 Bedford St. for allegedly attacking a male victim with a beer bottle, injuring both the victim and the establishment's bouncer.

Timothy Torres, 21, was arrested Thursday evening and charged with two accounts of assault for attacking a male bar patron with a broken bottle.

According to Sgt. Simon Blanc of the , Torres, who lives at 25 Herald Ave. in Bridgeport, was involved in three altercations with a male patron at 112 Bedford St., where the Butterfield 8 Restaraunt and Lounge is located.

"After the third altercation, Torres threw a beer bottle at him, cutting him," Blanc said.

The official SPD report of the incident states that Butterfield 8 bouncer Douglas Newhook, 32, did not see the fight, but when he turned around after hearing glass breakage, he received a laceration to his left elbow.

"Newhook noticed that another victim received a laceration over his left eye. The suspect was still at the scene."

Newhook reported the incident to police, who arrested Torres at 11:36 p.m., according to Friday's SPD arrest log. He was charged with one count of second degree assault and one count of third degree assault.

According to SPD, the victim was treated at the scene by EMS, went to Stamford Hospital, and was later released.

"Newhook refused treatment," Blanc added.
