Police initially suspected physical trauma because they found the victim after receiving reports of a fight that had spilled out of a nearby bar after last call. When officers arrived, they found crowds scattering.
But police saw no obvious signs of physical trauma on Barrera-Hernandez, and an autopsy by the Fairfield County Medical Examiner confirmed that the man did not die from physical trauma.
