Alleged Stamford Bomb-Maker Now Facing Child Porn Charges

Stamford police have now levied child pornography charges against a Vine Road man who was allegedly making bombs in the basement of a home he owner, police announced Thursday.

Donald Saturno, 47, of 172 Vine Road, allegedly had numerous images and several video clips of a pornographic nature featuring children on his computer, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.

The files were discovered when Saturno's harddrive was being searched for bomb-making-related information using a warrant.

Saturno remained in police custody from the previous arrest on March 11, 2013, stemming from an investigation sparked by zoning officials on January 30, 2013, who were visiting Saturno's home. The inspector's allegedly spotted PVC piping loaded up with nuts and bolts during their visit. Also in the home, police said, were multiple guns hidden by entry points to the basement apartment, white supremacist and anti-police propaganda and a tunnel in the process of being dug out into his backyard.

Police said an additional $100,000 was added to Saturno's previous $250,000 bond when the discovery was made. He appeared in court Wednesday for arraignment on the new charges.
