2 Stamford Businesses, 1 Home Targets of Burglars

Stamford Police say the homeowner's security camera caught images of the female suspect in the burglary.

Stamford Police say they hope someone will recognize the woman caught on a home security video camera during a July 8 burglary of the Culloden Road home.

According to Lt. Diedrich Hohn, the resident returned home about 6 p.m. July 8 to find a glass sliding door forced open. An unspecified amount of cash and jewelry were stolen, Hohn said.

He said investigators hope to identify the Hispanic or white woman seen in the video. Information can be called into police at 203 977-4417.

Hohn said that investigators believe two early morning burglaries of businesses may be related as it appears thieves used similar methods to jimmy open entry doors.

Around 10:30 p.m. July 8, police found the front door to Ce-Ce Green Cleanrs at 1051 Long Ridge Rd. had been opened with a pry bar. About $300 was taken from the cash register, Hohn said.

About four hours later, police responded to a burglary alarm at Town Fair Tire, 966 High Ridge Rd. According to Hohn, officers found the building secure and left.  However, when employees opened the store for business they discovered a 100-pound safe was missing. Hohn said there was evidence the safe was dragged from the building and that the door had been jimmied open.

The safe contained about $1,700, he said. Hohn said, "I think they're connected. It's the same MO."
