2 Gym Employees Charged in Credit Card Theft

Two Equinox employees were charged with stealing information from a member of the gym in Darien and using the money to buy clothes.

 

Two employees of Equinox gym in Darien have been charged with stealing from customers by using credit card information to buy $1,621 worth of clothes at Equinox gyms in Darien and Greenwich.

Both Katlyne Lature, 26, and Monefa Hamilton, 23, both of 19 Wardwell St., Stamford, worked at Equinox. Management of the company told police on Dec. 11 that the two had used a member's credit card information to buy the clothing.

Lature obtained the member's credit card infomration, recorded the numbers and provided them to Hamilton, who then used it to buy the clothing in seven purchases between Nov. 27 and Dec. 6.

When confronted, both Hamilton and Lature admitted to the theft. Police later applied for arrest warrants and on Friday both women turned themselves in at police headquarters and were arrested. Each was released on a written promise to appear March 4 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
