Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Co-Host Concert

The Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association (SPFFA), IAFF Local 786 is teaming up with the Where Angels Play Foundation to host a benefit concert to raise funds for construction of a new playground in Stamford dedicated to the memory of Jesse Lewis, one of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The benefit concert, featuring the Highland Rovers, will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 3:00-7:00 PM, at Tiernan’s Bar and Restaurant at 187 Main Street in Stamford, CT. Tickets cost $50 and include unlimited beer, wine, soda and mixed drinks. All proceeds will go towards playground construction costs. Tickets may be purchased at https://www.regonline.com/StamfordSandyGround.

The playground will be built at 706 Shippan Ave. on West Beach in Stamford, starting on Friday, May 2 at 10am. The Sandy Ground Memorial Playground Project expects the playground to be completed on May 3, with the dedication ceremony scheduled for Sunday, May 4 at 11am.

Brendan Keatley, President of the Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association, said, “All of us were deeply affected by the horrific shooting in nearby Newtown. This benefit concert will offer us an opportunity to come together as a community and help us create a lasting tribute to the life of Jesse Lewis here in Stamford. We are all honored to work with the Where Angels Play Foundation to make this new playground a reality for our children.”

The Where Angels Play Foundation is an non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to building playgrounds across the tri -state area to commemorate the 20 children and six teachers who lost their lives at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct.

Donations to the organization can be donated via check. Checks should be made out to the ‘Where Angels Play Foundation,’ indicate “Sandy Ground” in the memo, and be sent to the Where Angels Play Foundation at 158 Bucknell Avenue in Woodbridge, NJ, 07095. Donations are also accepted at http://www.thesandygroundproject.org/donation/.
