The Stamford Hospital Mobile Wellness Center will be at Bankwell in New Canaan, located at 156 Cherry Street on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 9am-noon to offer private and convenient walk-in and pre-scheduled mammogram screening services to the community. Insurance is accepted at the Mobile Unit and no-cost mammograms are available for the uninsured and low-income women.
Stamford Hospital’s Mobile Wellness Center seeks to decrease breast cancer mortality rates by bringing breast cancer screenings to where women live, work, play and learn. It also promotes healthy lifestyles by encouraging women to utilize their covered benefits for recommended screenings without missing work or family time.
The Mobile Wellness Center vehicle serves Fairfield and New Haven counties six days per week, 12 months per year. It offers a modern, comfortable screening experience and is fully accredited by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, American College of Radiology, and FDA to provide breast health education and screening for women age 40 and over. A skilled board-certified Stamford Hospital radiologist with extensive mammography experience performs and interprets exams. The Mobile Wellness Center also features a comfortable registration area, two dressing rooms, and a fully digital mammography unit. Both the patient and her doctor receive a copy of the screening results.
