Melvin Jones, 74; Long-Time Stamford Resident
Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 13, with the funeral scheduled for Monday, July 14.

Melvin Jones, 74, of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Stamford Hospital.
Melvin, the only child born to mother Curley Mae (Bradley) Cannady, was born on Aug. 30, 1939 in Merigold, MI. In March 1960, Melvin married Mamie Lee Jones in Stamford.

Melvin is survived by his mother, Curley Mae Cannady; son, Gregory M. Jones both of Stamford; three daughters, Esther Dawson (Billy) of Chester, OH, Anita Burnes (Nathaniel) of Tewksbury, MA, and Cynthia Jones-Barksdale (Bernard) of Concord, NC; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Melvin was predeceased by his wife, Mamie Lee Jones.

The wake will be held on Sunday, July 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church 27 Baxter Ave., Stamford, with the Rev. Johnny C. Bush officiating. Interment immediately following the services at Woodland Cemetery in Stamford.
