Marie " Gerry " Maher, 89, Stamford Public School Teacher

Marie Geraldine Maher, died June 27th in Stamford, CT. Gerry, as she was called , was born March 6, 1924 in Stamford. She was the only child of Helena (Brennan) 
and Jeremiah Maher. Her early childhood was spent in Stamford and Washington D.C.. Mr. Maher was the personal driver for Rep. Schulyer Merritt, who had to be in Washington when Congress was in session.

Gerry was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy , New Haven Teacher's College and Fairfield University.  She taught in the Stamford School System for over 30 years, ending as assistant principal of Roxbury School. 

Travel was something Gerry loved to do from Australia to Israel and the countries in between. She is survived by numerous cousins and some very close friends who will miss her very much. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 9 to 10 am at the Leo P Gallagher & Son Funeral Home , 2900 Summer St. Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary R. C. Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford at 10:30 am on Tuesday immediately following the visitation. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery, Darien.
