Lauretta T. Meehan-Coppola, 90; Enjoyed Traveling, Spending Winters in Florida

Calling hours are Wednesday, March 5 with the funeral Mass scheduled for Thursday, March 6.


Lauretta T. Meehan-Coppola passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was 90.

She was married in January 1945 to her beloved husband Thomas J. Meehan Sr. and together, they raised their five children, Thomas (Kathleen) who passed away in 2012, Maureen Pavia, James (Gail), Laurie Sollitto (Robert) and Mary Ellen Guarnieri (Eugene). She married her second husband, Ralph T. Coppola and expanded her family to include his adult children Glen (Peggy), Adrienne, Chris, Corey and Neal. She also is survived by 13 grandchildren, three great-grandmother, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Meehan-Coppola enjoyed traveling, spending winter months in Florida, reading, cooking, and, most especially, every holiday she had the chance to celebrate the day and enjoy that time with her family.

Her family thanks the nurses from Hospice especially Mamie, Nelly, Felicia, Nereida, and Sandra; and Millicent and Rema, who cared for her on a 24-hour basis with unwavering love, support, and devotion.

Family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 5 at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at St. Mary’s Parish, 566 Elm Street, Stamford.  Interment will follow at St. John Roman Catholic Cemetery, in Darien.
