Joseph A. Valenti Jr., 86; Lifelong Stamford Resident, Northeast Utilities Superintendent

Joseph A. Valenti Jr., 86, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Stamford Hospital. Joseph was born on April 15, 1928, son of the late Joseph A. and Margaret Turcer Valenti Sr.

Joseph was a proud member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and a Charter Member of Glenbrook Athletic Club and also served in the US Marine Corps. Joseph received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from UConn and was a former employee of Northeast Utilities as Superintendent of the Devon Station.
 
Joseph is survived by his loving wife Pauline (Andersson) Valenti and their three sons, Joseph A. Valenti III and his wife Deborah, of Indiana, Michael A. Valenti and wife Amy of Delaware, and Steven A. Valenti and wife Brooke of Connecticut; his nine cherished grandsons, Ronny, Tony, Justin, Danny, Nathan, Spencer, Christopher, James and Thomas, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Joseph’s one nephew and two nieces also survive.
 
Besides his parents, Joseph is predeceased by his two sisters, Margaret Pagniello and Jennie Romaniello. 

Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, on Monday, June 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday, July 1, at 9:20 a.m. and proceed to St. Gabriel’s RC Church, 914 Newfield Ave., Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
